Genesis 12:1 Now the Lord had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, From your family And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation;

God called Abraham to leave his country AND FAMILY. Abraham walked away from a country he knew, a land he was familiar with, his fathers house and never looked back. Today, God may ask you for the same. Don’t cling to a place God is taking you out of. Don’t cling to people – friends, some family members God is asking you to leave behind. Don’t hold on to a job God is asking you to resign from and do not hold on to anything God is asking you to leave behind.

In order to step into that blessing, you have to let go of what God has asked you to. In order to receive the inheritance -obedience is key. Israel was able to step into the promise because Abraham obeyed God and left. He didn’t know where He was going – as the verse says…to a land I will show you…

Be obedient, step out and go and trust God to show you the next step. God will never ask you to go and not be with you. He promised to never leave us nor forsake us.

***Genesis 12: 3 I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”****

    1. Me too. We want the promise but do we want the journey? If it doesn’t make sense to us, we tend to push aside or disregard it or even question if it’s from God. Abraham is a good example of obedience, trust, faith, perseverance….moving from known to unknown.

  1. When I read that passage a few years back God said to me that Abraham had to leave a familiar place, familiar people, and familiar provision. God will call us from that comfortable place, and for me it was initially difficult and God had to pry things away, but I soon learned to surrender…thanks for the message!
