I had a vision of walking through the red sea and I remember looking at either side of me and seeing walls of water more than 80 feet high. It was claustrophobic. I wondered how Israel had walked through it. Even in the vision I could feel the coolness of the water and seeing different species of sea creatures, some very big and weird looking as they swam around and close to the water’s edge gave me chills. The bottom of the sea while dry was rough, rocks of different sizes and texture and appearance; uneven ground. I looked up ahead and saw the Light and I knew I had a choice; focus on the Light or focus on my surroundings. My surrounds were enough to cause me to turn back but the Light ahead was also enough for me to persevere and walk through the parted seas. I came out of the vision knowing that the storm within is sometimes bigger than the storm around us. Your faith determines your level of endurance.

Exodus 14:15

And the Lord said to Moses, “Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward.

Israel watched as the Lord performed wonders in the sight of all the Egyptians. 10 plagues and they were on their way to the promise land loaded with riches they had not even worked for. They were free from the clutches of bondage. They were no longer under the oppressive yoke of pharaoh. Yet when they reached the edge of the red sea they had nowhere to go so they camped there and were okay until they saw pharaoh and his army in hot pursuit. Then they lifted their voice and cried out to Moses.

Exodus 14:10-12 And when Pharaoh drew near, the children of Israel lifted their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians marched after them. So they were very afraid, and the children of Israel cried out to the Lord. Then they said to Moses, “Because there were no graves in Egypt, have you taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you so dealt with us, to bring us up out of Egypt? Is this not the word that we told you in Egypt, saying, ‘Let us alone that we may serve the Egyptians’? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than that we should die in the wilderness.”

Would God have brought them this far only to leave them at the mercy of pharaoh? Would God bring you this far only to leave you at the mercy of your enemies? Would the Lord promise to deliver you yet allow your enemies to destroy you? Is your situation or circumstance too difficult for God?

“Why do you cry to Me…..go forward.”

I love, love Gods answer! “Why do you cry out to me?” He had a plan and He was executing it as they moved in obedience to His leading. They were in a rock and a hard place if you may and their only way out was blocked by an army of grieving, angry soldiers and a king seeking vengeance. Had any of them considered the red sea could be the “way” out for them and burial ground for the Egyptians? So what was God saying when He told them to move forward? “Use your faith” He might as well have told them that. The Lord had performed signs and wonders before their eyes using the staff in Moses hand yet here they suddenly wanted to be back in the place of captivity because they were faced with an impossible situation.

Have you considered that maybe the storm you’re facing is your way out? Have you considered that maybe, oh just maybe it is the key to your promise land? Have you considered that maybe that storm has nothing to do with the devil hindering you but everything to do with God refining you?

…….Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen…..
