Stepping into the call

Jeremiah 1: 4-10 The word of the Lord came to me, saying, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”  “Alas, Sovereign Lord,” I said, “I do not know how to speak; I am too young.”  But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am too young.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you. Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the Lord.  Then the Lord reached out his hand and touched my mouth and said to me, “I have put my words in your mouth. See, today I appoint you over nations and kingdoms to uproot and tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and to plant.

I ran, hid and tried to convince God I wasn’t cut for what He was calling me to because of fear of rejection. I had seen too many prophets rejected, condemned and I didn’t want to be one of them. God was patient. The feeling of Him watching me, waiting for me to say ‘yes’ was one of the reasons I surrendered but His love for me was the main reason I said yes. He loved me so fiercely and that was something I couldn’t escape. When I surrendered I knew there was some changes that needed to be done and while it wasn’t easy I’m forever grateful He cleaned up my “can’t do” attitude to I can do all things to Christ who gives me strength (Philippians 4:13)

If you are struggling with your call, be encouraged. He hasn’t called you to walk it out alone. He is the one who will guide you, open doors for you to walk through and give what you need to fulfill your mandate. Serving God is exciting, there may be some sacrifices but HE is worth every one of them. Ministry is amazing but the best part is the relationship you have with Jesus. I’m married to Jesus, not ministry and there is great freedom in that. You are able to do what He has called you to because He has equipped you to step into those shoes and walk in His grace and power. Remember, it’s not by power, not by might but by the spirit praise the Lord. (Zechariah 4:6)

God doesn’t make mistakes, He knows who you are; you are His, He knows where you’ve been and He still wants to use you. Your past isn’t your platform, He is. Don’t let your past mistakes dictate your present or future. Jesus has that covered. He erased all your sins and the bible says He remembers your sins no more. (Isaiah 43:25; Hebrews 8:12) He is faithful. His gifts and call are irrevocable. (Romans 11:29) The devil will try to convince you, you can’t do it, he will bring up your past to condemn you and will even try to tell you people will reject you because no one will believe you are changed. There maybe people who will also try to distract you or disqualify you but please know, God didn’t make a mistake. You’re not called to do everything. You’re called to do your part and there are many members to Christ’s body (Romans 12:5).

Steward the gifts the Lord gave you (1 Peter 4:10). Learn from others and submit to the Holy Spirit. Press into Him and let Him teach you, let Him guide you and lead you where He needs you. Depend on Him for everything. Be spirit led and no matter what, be obedient to His leading. Don’t be afraid of making mistakes, no one is perfect but own up to your mistakes and move on. I encourage you to say “yes Lord, here I am, use me.” The time is at hand where many hands are needed for the harvest is plentiful and the laborers are few. Leave your mark on the harvest field, be part of the great commission. (Matthew 28:16-20)

    1. Thank you so much Tai. You’re a wonderful blessing!! He is the reason I do what I do. Like you, I love how He speaks to us and through us. His delight is what we write about so others may know Him as a gentle and loving Father. He’s so much more and it’s a pleasure to know Him and be known by Him. Blessings sister, you’re welcome to stop by anytime.
