John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

I looked in His eyes and my heart broke. The depth of His pain was deep yet He took it in stride. He didn’t flinch as they spat on His face. When they mocked Him, He endured. There was no trace of anger found in Him; just a deep sense of love flowed from Him. His eyes bloodshot from His suffering still held the amazing love that propelled Him to keep going forward with an execution He didn’t deserve. I looked deeper into His eyes and drowned in His perfect love. I too had held Him there when I walked in sin yet there was no condemnation in His eyes just a deep love that brought me to my knees so grateful that He had thought of me to when He died on the cross.

I didn’t have to do it but I did it anyway because I loved you and still do. I died for your sins so you could walk in freedom. Even though you hated me, I loved you and took on the weight of the world upon My shoulders.

They spat in His face and struck him with their fists (Matthew 26:67). Others slapped him and even when blood gushed from His body they showed no mercy. On His head lay a crown of thorns as they mocked His royalty and struck Him with rods. He was bruised and wounded for our transgression; the chastisement of our sin was upon His shoulders. How, how could He still stand and be stretched out on a wooden cross for an undeserving people? How could He still endure in love when those He was dying for mocked Him mercilessly?

I didn’t have to do it but I did it anyway because I loved you and still do. I died for your sins so you could walk in freedom. Even though you hated me, I loved you and took on the weight of the world upon My shoulders.

Even after He died and gave us a way out of our sin ridden selves, some still mock Him. Some still spit of His face. Some still curse the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6) because He is exactly that; the only door to everlasting life. Some shake their fist in His face like they are better that the one who created them. Some walk away from Him when life lands them a cruel blow and they blame Him and curse Him and mock Him. Yet, yet, His love is still as hot for His accusers as it was when He died on that cross.

I didn’t have to do it but I did it anyway because I loved you and still do. I died for your sins so you could walk in freedom. Even though you hated me, I loved you still and took on the weight of the world upon My shoulders.

Father God, what can we say? We didn’t deserve the sacrifice of Your Son but You did it anyway because Your love for us burns hotter and hotter every day. Lord Jesus, help us be sons and daughters and not mockers of Your glory. Help us and teach us to walk in purity and to remain in Your glorious presence as children adopted to Kingship, as children gathered in the arms of their Father. Help us Lord be a people who seek Your face not because we are in need of things but because we hunger to be one with You. Help us to not forsake You when life turns and we hurt from the unfortunates circumstances that may come our way. Let us remember that Your plans for us are to prosper and not to harm us, to give us hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). Let us hold fast to You as You hold fast to us who seek You. Father help us overcome that Your name maybe glorified in every area of our lives each and every day we are here on earth. Thank You for everything You are to us and all You have done for us. You are everything Jesus. You are all we need and want and desire, so help us to keep pressing forward toward the goal for which Christ Jesus took hold of for us.

Lord we know that Jesus didn’t have to do it but He did it anyway. He died for our sins and took on the weight of this world upon His shoulders. We acknowledge that the perfect One took our place and in Him and through Him we have everlasting life. Thank You Jesus. We love You. Be glorified. Come Jesus, come.
