Hebrew 11:11 is an amazing chapter about faith. Each verse leaves a trail of hopeful fire in my heart. By faith, by faith, by faith, by faith! Some of us know our calling, let us move by faith and be amazed by what God will do through us. We have the seed of promise (our calling) which is watered by the word of God; it is backed by the blood of Jesus and testified by the Holy Spirit. No one can fulfil the call of God in our place. No one can take that seed that God has planted in us and live it out for us. The seed of promise as I call the call of God in my life grows when you read the word, be cleansed by the blood of the Lamb, when you let the Holy Spirit testify of Jesus in your life, when prayer becomes like breathe to you, the seed comes to life and it grows and keeps growing.
As called and chosen vessels, let us not be complacent or get comfortable in the ‘waiting’ for God to open those big doors as each day we wait a soul goes unsaved. We don’t have to wait for the stadiums, arenas, churches or open fields promised to reach the lost. We can start ministering where we are at because all around us are people who don’t know Jesus, people who are living broken and some are lost in an addiction of some sort. I love Hebrew 11:8 By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going. Abraham did not sit and wait for God to give him a destination, he didn’t say he was not prepared or had little kids to think of or he didn’t have enough food etc., he packed up and left because he trusted God to take him to the land He promised him. The bible says Abraham went out not knowing where he was going (vs8). Abraham was getting prepared for the promise land as he was on his journey and even though he didn’t enter the promise land, His descendants walked into the promise land and settled there.
Question for all of you, can you trust God like Abraham did and move out of obedience? I know we all need training in the different areas God has called us to serve but does that stop us from saying a simple prayer of repentance with someone who needs Jesus? Does that stop you from inviting someone to church? Does lack of training stop you from being an usher or greater in your Church? As you are training, get involved. Touch someone’s life with the love of Jesus. Don’t get stuck in the preparation phase for years and miss out on the great and wonderful things God is waiting to do through you.
Step out and trust God to direct your path. There maybe unfavorable situations, hardships, closed doors or even heart break but we should all go forth to the unknown yet known world and reach the unreached for the kingdom of God. We should be okay touching the grime and filth of this world to reveal the gem hidden within layers of sin or brokenness. We shouldn’t sit and wait for the warm, cozy and big arenas to be open. A diamond has to go through fire to look like it does. We are no different yet unlike the diamond God doesn’t need us to be perfect to use us. A well-known international evangelist says, ‘God uses those who are willing’ and ‘a cold stove cannot heat any water’. An unwilling and unyielded vessel is not usable to God but a yielded, humble and willing vessel He uses. Being called doesn’t put us on a pedestal but may put us on a platform open to public scrutiny from those who don’t believe in God, those who shun the gospel of Jesus Christ and like Jesus we will face accusers under the influence of darkness yet like the Son we ought to be a light for a dying world that will remain dead if we don’t pick up our cross and fulfill our commission. The enemy may try to discredit you but God who has appointed you approved of you before He sent you. Do not get side tracked. Keep moving on your assignment, keep ploughing, keep sowing seed/word of God and let the Holy Spirit work on the hearts that need to be saved. Someone once said the easiest part of their crusades the miracles of healing because it is not them but the Holy Spirit who does the work of healing.
If the fire of God is lit in us we ought to soldier on with the weapons of our warfare (2 Corinthians 10:4-5 We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ – NLT) and face down devils that have already been defeated, exposing the copycat (satan) and his works by shedding the light and truth of Jesus Christ that burns brightly in us in every area we go to. Remember, you cannot confront darkness with meekness but with boldness for the Lion of Judah, the Son of God, Jesus our Lord and Savior abides in us.
